WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Wichita mother whose child was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle while trick-or-treating on Halloween night of 2021 voiced approval of implemented plans to prevent a similar situation as neighborhoods again prepare for costume-clad young pedestrians in their streets.
In Wichita, the College Hill neighborhood goes big on Halloween, drawing trick-or-treaters from throughout the city and beyond. It was in College Hill four years ago when a 23-year-old man was driving under the influence and hit Lacy Vandolah’s then four-year-old son, Kimani, with his vehicle.
Kimani was taken to a Wichita hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Vandolah described the experience as “horrific.”
