The moment a man casually walked away after allegedly randomly stabbing a passenger on a bus has been caught on camera.

A 51-year-old man was stabbed in an alleged unprovoked attack on a route 428 bus travelling along Addison Rd in Marrickville, in Sydney ‘s inner west, about 1am on Thursday.

He was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with stab wounds to his face, hand and arm.

Security footage shows the chilling moment the alleged attacker calmly walked away after getting off the bus near Enmore Park.

The 54-year-old man was arrested about 12.30pm the same day while walking on Illawarra Rd — a dramatic moment also captured on camera by 7NEWS.

He was pinned against a police van as back-up officers poured in.
