Our condo building has nearly 100 units. Recently, all the owners received the Portland Bureau of Transportation flyer about Portland’s Leaf Day service, advising recipients to rake their leaves into the street to be swept up by PBOT crews. Instructions were also given to remove obstacles from the street, trim overhanging branches, and move vehicles that might get in their way.
The brochures are attractive and informative, but providing them to every condo owner was a waste of paper and postage on the part of the city. The management of our building would take care of any such Leaf Day efforts, and the managers are the only ones who would need those brochures. The rest end up in our recycling bins or in the trash.
