MONTPELIER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - The state-wide burn ban instated last month has been rescinded by Vermont's Department of Forest, Parks and Recreation.

The department made this announcement Friday morning, October 24. Specifically, they report that the order requiring "all Town Forest Fire Wardens to cease issuing burn permits" has been lifted.

This debris burn ban was originally put in place September 22, when much of Vermont was actively experiencing a severe drought, with many areas under a voluntary or mandatory water conservation notice, as previously reported by ABC22/FOX44.

While most of the state is still experiencing this severe drought, the state wildland fire danger forecast has decreased across Vermont.
