RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A major advance in surgical technology has made its way to northern Nevada.

Members of the Galena Surgical Center announced the successful completion of its first robotic assisted surgery at its brand-new state of the art facility.

The milestone procedure, which in this particular example, was a hernia repair, took place on Monday, was performed by doctor Lars Webb using the Da Vinci 5 Surgical System, Intuitive’s most advanced surgical robot.

“The advancements the Da Vinci Surgical System brings include better patient outcomes, shortened recovery times, and quicker surgery times,” said Director of Nursing Victoria Bennett.
