G Bar C Ranch in Rosston, Texas , received the first Noble Land Stewardship Award on October 22 for its regenerative land management practices.
The Ellis family’s 3,000-acre operation has cataloged over 660 species of plants, animals, birds and lichens while running more than 200 Black Angus cattle. Founded in 1982 by GC Ellis, the ranch now includes his daughter Meredith, who represents the next generation of land stewards.
“Finding that perfect equilibrium where the cattle are helping the ecosystem, and the ecosystem is helping the cattle, is a balance that we always try to achieve,” Ellis said.
The ranch previously won the 2023 National Environmental Stewardship Award from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and participates in a $19 million study on grazing and soil health
