CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Canyon police have arrested a man for animal cruelty charges after several cats were found injured.

On October 17, the Canyon Police Department Animal Control Division was notified of a cat with an injury to its head in the are of 4th Avenue and 5th Street.

Animal Control responded to the area, but they were unable to find the cat.

On October 20, the cat was seen in the same area. Animal Control found the cat.

The cat had a blow dart embedded several inches into its skull. The cat did not survive this injury.

On October 22, Animal Control received information concerning two additional instances where a cat had been shot with a blow dart.

The investigation led officers to 19-year-old Landon Hasenkemp, who was arrested for animal cruelty involving the killing or
