WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Rene Martinez, 24, a former Waco Police Officer, has been indicted by a McLennan County Grand Jury on a charge of Tampering with Physical Evidence, the department announced Friday.
“The actions taken by Martinez, while employed at the Waco Police Department, do not reflect the integrity, values, ethical standards, and high expectations that our agency strives to uphold and expects of all its employees,” said City of Waco Chief of Police Sheryl D. Victorian.
“The Waco Police Department is deeply disturbed by Martinez’s actions, highlighting a complete disregard for procedural justice.”
The department said an internal investigation into the allegations of misconduct began on July 26, 2025, and Martinez was placed on administrative leave with pay.
