A car crash that took the lives of three people and left one permanently disabled was caused by speeds of more than double the legal limit as the driver rushed a family member to hospital, court findings reveal.

According to police evidence, one of the passengers suffered a diabetic emergency, and the driver, in a panic and with the intention of obtaining medical help, drove the car "at speeds that ultimately led to him losing control of the vehicle and crashing".

In ACT Coroner's Court findings published on Friday, October 24, coroner Ken Archer revealed details about the crash that killed the three Bangladeshi nationals in October 2022 .

"I express my condolences to the family of the deceased. The deaths were an unspeakable tragedy," he said.
