EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - As fans gear up for the Michigan-Michigan State game this weekend at Spartan Stadium, police are reminding fans to celebrate the occasion safely.

With kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday — with coverage live on WILX-TV — there will be a prolonged build-up to the game, which means more partying.

East Lansing police officials on Friday sent a reminder to the community that “anyone experiencing medical distress due to alcohol or drug consumption” — or anyone accompanying them — can seek medical help without risk of penalty.

That includes those who are under the age of 21.

“We welcome fans of both teams and encourage everyone to keep the rivalry on the field during this weekend’s game,” said ELPD Chief Jen Brown.
