The Chief Electoral Officer has approved a petition to remove Demetrios Nicolaides, Alberta’s Education Minister, with a goal of just over 16,000 signatures in the Calgary-Bow riding.

The petition has to collect 16,006 signatures from October 23, 2025, to January 21, 2026.

The number of signatures is taken from the 60 per cent of the total votes cast in the riding of Calgary-Bow in the most recent election, with the total number of votes cast in 26,676. The election was a close race, with Nicolaides receiving 13,175 votes, with his NDP counterpart Druh Farrell receiving 12,552.
