Los Angeles aims for back-to-back titles; Toronto returns to Fall Classic for first time since 1993
The 2025 World Series stage is set and it’s loaded with storylines. The Los Angeles Dodgers, seeking to become baseball’s first repeat champions since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees, will square off against the Toronto Blue Jays, who are back in the Fall Classic for the first time since their 1993 championship season.
Toronto clinched its spot Monday night with a dramatic Game 7 win over Seattle, punctuated by George Springer’s go-ahead home run. The Dodgers, meanwhile, dominated the top-seeded Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS to earn a return trip to October’s biggest stage. Los Angeles now becomes the first defending champ to reach the World Series the next year since the 2009 Phillies.
