Students in Pawhuska spent some time with a Medal of Honor recipient on Friday at a school assembly, and the community has a chance to hear him speak at an event Saturday.

Sgt. 1st Class Sammy Lee Davis rescued three of his fellow soldiers during the Vietnam War. He said he's not a brave man and did what any other soldier would have done for him.

Davis and his wife, Dixie, said they travel 200 days of the year to share his story. As the students in Pawhuska learned Friday, Davis is an open book and answers every question he gets.

“Listen to a nine-page speech, or ask me questions”

In the Pawhuska High School gym, students were given two choices: listen to a nine-page speech or ask questions.

“I will answer any question that you have,” Davis said. “First question, who’s got it?”
