KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — As the government continues to stay shutdown, local organizations are beginning to question what this means for federal funding.

According to the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee, funding for its Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is currently in question. Without the federal government’s input, they do not know how much funding they will receive this year for the program, and application deadlines are approaching.

The application deadline was moved from October to November 1 this year, and a number of changes are being implemented.
