FRANKFORT, Ky. —
Kentucky's attorney general has vowed to get justice for a 3-year-old and her father after the man found guilty of murdering them had his conviction overturned.
The Kentucky Supreme Court overturned Kevon Lawless' conviction in their cases after ruling that a mistrial should have been declared.
Lawless was found guilty on Sept. 23, 2022 for the murder of 3-year-old Trinity Randolph and her father Brandon Waddles in 2020.
He received two life sentences without parole in November 2023.
The justices ruled a mistrial should have been declared after jurors learned that a key witness for prosecutors had been arrested for lying in his testimony.
