CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Canyon Police Department reported that one man was arrested on charges of animal cruelty after three cats were reported to have been injured by a blow dart.

According to CPD, Landon Hasenkemp, 19, was arrested after police investigated reports of cats that were injured by a blow dart.

On Oct. 17, the CPD Animal Control Division was notified of a cat with an injury to its head in the area of 4th Avenue and 5th Street. On Oct. 20, Animal Control located the cat and said a blow dart was embedded several inches into its skull. The injury was reported to be unrecoverable.

On Oct. 22, CPD Animal Control received information that two other cats were injured by a blow dart. After an investigation, officers were led to Hasenkemp in alleged connection with the case
