WASHINGTON, D.C. — LSI, Inc. of Alpena, South Dakota, is recalling more than 2.2 million pounds of Golden Island Korean barbecue pork jerky after pieces of metal were found in the product, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Friday .
The recalled jerky, sold in 14.5-oz. and 16-oz. plastic pouches, carries “best by” dates ranging from Oct. 23, this year, through Sept. 23, next year. The products bear establishment number “M279A” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were distributed to Costco and Sam’s Club locations nationwide.
The recall was prompted after several consumers reported finding wiry metal in the pork jerky, according to FSIS. LSI, Inc. traced the contamination to a conveyor belt used during production. No injuries have been c
