The jury in the gangland murder trial of Bilal Hamze has been discharged after they were unable to reach verdicts.
Bilal Hamze died after a total of 10 shots were fired at him as he left a restaurant in Sydney’s CBD on June 17, 2021.
Samuel John Rokomaqisa was accused of murder and conspiracy to kill the man’s younger brother, Ibrahem.
Ibrahem narrowly escaped a murder plot just months later on August 14, with a stolen car circling his North Sydney home missing him by just 58 seconds, a court was previously told.
The jury was discharged on Thursday morning after weeks of deliberations.
Acting Justice Robert Allan Hulme confirmed with the jury’s foreperson that they would be unlikely to return verdicts even if they were given more time.
