NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Saturday has a severe weather threat as the first batch of storms arrives in the afternoon and sticks with us through part of this evening.
The main threats for Saturday include the chance for flash flooding, damaging wind gusts up to 60-mph and a few brief tornadoes.
Speaking of flooding, a Coastal Flood Advisory will be in effect starting at 7 p.m. this evening and lasting until 7 a.m. on Sunday --- particularly as high tide is expected between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
We may see some minor coastal flooding as water levels rise about one foot above the normal high tide levels.
The advisory is in place for Terrebonne, Lafourche, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Orleans parishes along with Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties.
