HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Critical fire weather conditions are still possible for leeward areas of Niihau, Kauai and Oahu, with a red flag warning in effect until 6 p.m.
A First Alert Weather Day also continues for those areas through this afternoon.
Some changes are already moving in as an upper level disturbance is drifting over Hawaii Island, increasing the chances for rainfall and even a slight chance of thunderstorms there. The enhanced moisture will also make its way westward over the rest of the islands.
The disturbance is also bringing a chance for ice and small snow accumulations at the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, where a winter weather advisory is in effect.
