IRVINGTON, Ala. ( WALA ) - For the first time, members from a local church are speaking about helping a woman who says she was held captive inside a trailer and repeatedly raped.

The alleged victim, who is only being referred to as Amanda, said Outpost Church saved her. Members at the church who witnessed her escape said this wasn’t possible without God.

Trapped and abused for nearly a week, this alleged rape victim said while she was held hostage inside a trailer in Irvington, a sign gave her hope.

The words “Shelter from the storm” are visible on the digital sign for the church. Amanda said that’s exactly what the church was for her.

Prosecutors say Joseph Rogers Jr. held the woman captive and repeatedly raped her.
