SAUGERTIES, N.Y. — Just over 120 voters cast their ballots in Saugerties in the first hours of the first day of early voting on Saturday, with poll workers noting it was a pretty steady turnout for a year with only local races on the ballot.

Election inspectors noted 121 voters had cast their ballots by just after noon as a steady stream of voters passed through the doors of the Senior Center next to Cantine Field, with a small line even forming at times.

“It’s been very steady,” said Election Inspector Elaine Ferrigan, who retired from the Ulster County Board of Elections in 2017 and now continues to serve as an inspector. She said that turnout is typically much lower in years with only municipal and county races on the ballot.
