Kalen DeBoer slayed the little giant Saturday. That had virtually nothing to do with South Carolina.
Alabama finally won the “small” SEC game on the road, albeit in ugly fashion.
Victory in this type of game proved to be elusive in DeBoer’s year-and-a-half tenure prior to this weekend. That almost looked to be the case again vs. the Gamecocks.
DeBoer won all sorts of big games in 2024 and 2025, but when it came to the perceived easier games away from Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Crimson Tide provided mixed results.
Pretty much, if Alabama was favored against an unranked team on the road under DeBoer, the Crimson Tide lost. The Sept. 14, 2024 win over Wisconsin was the only exception.
Until Saturday.
