SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - States redraw their congressional and legislative districts every 10 years when U.S. Census Bureau data is collected.

But the discussion about mid-cycle redistricting is underway in Indiana.

Democratic State Representative Maureen Bauer held a town hall at Riley High School in South Bend standing against the idea.

It comes after pressure from the Trump administration to redraw maps in red states before they have midterm elections next year.

Bauer’s goal was to hear concerns from residents about the proposed redistricting in the Hoosier State.

The new map shows that Marion County would be split into three separate districts, and District 1 would expand into the second and fourth districts.
