CONYERS, Ga. — A Conyers day care was charred and boarded up before it could even open for business. The Rockdale County Fire Department and Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire are investigating Monday's fire at Starr Kidz Academy 2 as arson.

Owner Keisha Archer said the upcoming weeks were supposed to be big for the daycare.

"So much was supposed to be happening," Archer said.

She had a Halloween party planned, and then hoped to open the following week.

It’s not the first time the opening’s been delayed. Archer said someone vandalized the building in February.

"It took us six months to get here, so eight to 10 months total now have been put into this building with no children, no operation," Archer said.
