PORTLAND, Ore. — Black leaders from the local to the federal level gathered in Portland Saturday to push back against the Trump administration's policies.

The town hall covered everything from the Immigrations Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) presence and the potential National Guard deployment to cuts to programs like SNAP , threatened by the government shutdown.

One woman said, “People all the time who are losing hope, who are feeling despair, who are already defeated in the onslaught that has just begun so I'd like to hear from you and we can inspire one another to participate, to vote, to have a vision.”
