COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa —
The Council Bluffs community gathered to honor Hayden Baker, a 17-year-old who died in a hit-and-run motorcycle crash last week, with a memorial ride organized by friends and family.
Hayden was driving home on his motorcycle when police say a truck driver rear-ended him, leaving the scene and resulting in Hayden being taken to the hospital in critical condition. His mom, Karla Baker, confirmed that Hayden had died after being placed on life support and donating his organs.
Police say the driver of that truck, 52-year-old Jason Lee Evans, left the scene at the time of the crash . Council Bluffs police later obtained a search warrant for his blood as he was showing signs of impairment, according to investigators. CBPD said arrests will follow the toxicology result
