South Carolina State dominated from the second quarter onward to hand Norfolk State a 51–20 defeat in the MEAC opener on Saturday afternoon, spoiling the Spartans’ homecoming before a record-setting crowd of 47,273 at William “Dick” Price Stadium.

Norfolk State opened with early momentum, forcing two defensive stops and taking a 7–0 lead when quarterback Otto Kuhns found J.J. Evans for a 22-yard touchdown late in the first quarter. But that would be the Spartans’ last lead of the afternoon.

The Bulldogs responded with a relentless offensive surge, piling up 31 consecutive points through a combination of long drives and quick strikes.
