Victorian Opposition Leader Brad Battin has unleashed against the Allan Labor government for failing to reduce the states ballooning crime rate and said police officers were “so angry” that bail laws had not been strengthened.
Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan insisted her government’s machete laws were “working” despite reports knives had been used in three attacks over four days in the north Melbourne suburb of Broadmeadows.
Police were called to reports of a brawl in the northern Melbourne suburb at about 9.30pm on Saturday after a group of men armed with machetes were seen fighting on Cuthbert and Joffre streets.
The alleged offenders fled the scene prior to police arriving, but a short time later a 19-year-old was located with stab wounds at the corner of nearby Kitchener and Goulbur
