Middlesbrough’s draw against Wrexham was a forgettable affair on the pitch, with neither side really offering much. It will instead be remembered mostly for what Rob Edwards did at half-time.
Showing his ruthless side with Boro 1-0 down and looking lacklustre in a first half as poor as anything seen under the new boss this season, Edwards rang the changes. He’s been known to make a substitute or two at the interval, but even he admitted he’d never made four before. Yes, four!
It worked. While Boro didn’t ever quite manage to find a real quality flow to their play, their intent in the second half was much better. So too was their intensity. For the first time in the game, they put it on their visitors and asked them questions.
