PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Veterans Memorial Coliseum had a new look and the Portland Winterhawks saw the puck drop on a new season in the Western Hockey League on Saturday, with a 6-3 win over the Saskatoon Blades.
The Winterhawks go gold to celebrate 50 years on the VMC ice. The Coliseum glow-up from city bonds via tourism displays, big league light-up rink boards, new seats, restrooms and ADA accessibility for hockey night in the Rose City.
“Man, it looks absolutely amazing, man,” said Winterhawks fan Jim. “Before it was a little rustic, man but now...I mean, they hit a home run out here. We’re totally sold. The bathrooms are (ok sign) nice, dude so we’re pretty happy. I mean, I’ve been sitting there for forever. My seat used to slope down and now it’s not. It’s a nice seat with cupho
