SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (AZFamily) — Authorities worked to rescue a bear cub found wandering in San Tan Valley on Saturday.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) first received reports of the bear cub wandering around San Tan Valley last week, but it bear-ly evaded capture.
On Saturday, the cub was spotted in a rural area near Arizona Farms and Felix Road , where deputies corralled him to the top of a palm tree.
Arizona Game & Fish Department (AZGFD) officials tranquilized the bear, which was safely removed from the tree by firefighters with Rural Metro Fire and Queen Creek Fire.
The bear cub, which authorities have named Ted, was taken into custody by AZGFD and will be released into the wild in northern Arizona by wildlife managers.
