CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Philipsburg man is behind bars after Pennsylvania State Police said a 57 year-old woman was found dead inside a Rush Township home during a welfare check Saturday morning.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police Public Information Release Report, troopers from the Rockview barracks were dispatched around 9 a.m. on Oct. 25 to a home at 703 North Front Street in Rush Township, Centre County. When police arrived, they discovered a woman dead inside the residence.

Following an investigation at the scene, troopers arrested Alan K. Reed, 74, of Philipsburg, for criminal homicide. The police report lists the incident as intentional homicide, noting that the arrest was made after troopers gathered evidence and interviews at the scene.
