EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) — Two East Greenwich residents will have to find somewhere else to stay after a fire damaged their home Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Fire Chief David Gorman said the department was initially tied up responding to another alarm when they were called to a house on Blueberry Drive just after 3:15 p.m.

Warwick crews were first on scene and found flames coming from the back of the house, which had spread into the breezeway and attic. The fire also spread into the garage and parts of the home’s interior.

No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported, according to Gorman.

The house sustained moderate damage and is currently uninhabitable, but he said the homeowners do have a place to stay in the meantime.
