PHOENIX — A woman was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition after a shooting in Phoenix caused the closure of an apartment complex.

According to police, officers arrived at an apartment near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road around 4:45 p.m. and found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was then brought to a nearby hospital by firefighters.

Officers said the scene is “very active” as they search for the suspect.
