PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Two people were hospitalized after a shooting in Central Peoria late Sunday night.

Officers with the Peoria Police Department were called at 8:18 p.m. to the 3200 block of North Isabell Avenue to a report of a person shot, said police spokeswoman Semone Roth.

When officers arrived, they didn't initially find any victims, but a few minutes later found two people with gunshot wounds inside a car near the intersection of Isabell and West Merle Lane, she said.

The driver, a man, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and the woman passenger was taken with non-life-threatening injuries, Roth said.

Police are currently still on scene investigating and no further information was made available.

No arrests have been made public as of Sunday evening.
