PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- One person was hospitalized after a wreck left them trapped in a vehicle.

Crews with the Peoria Fire Department were called at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, to the 2300 block of North Gale Avenue to a report of a wreck with entrapment, said Battalion Chief Josh Martin.

When they arrived, firefighters found one person trapped inside a four-door sedan and used a hydraulic extraction tool, commonly called the "jaws of life," and got the person out safely, he said.

They were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Martin said.

No further details on the wreck were given.
