BOWLING GREEN, Mo. -- Conditions were great for running cross country in Bowling Green. Temperatures were in the low 60s and the sky was overcast and the course was fast. 24 girls teams and 28 boys teams showed up to run at the Pike County Fairgrounds on Friday and the Hannibal Pirates ran great.
The first race of the day was the combined junior varsity race where the Pirate boys were led by sophomore Ian Pruett. Pruett placed 21st in a field of 119 runners. 12 seconds behind Pruett was freshman Cooper Bleigh with a time of 20:32, securing the 26th spot.
Kellen Howard and Alejandro Gonzalez, both juniors, placed 28th and 30th with times of 20:48 and 20:56, respectively. Next to cross the finish for the Pirate boys was Gage Denney who finished in 56th place. Rounding out the Pirate boys w
