WASHINGTON, Mo. -- No. 4 seed Hannibal knew it had some heavy lifting to do on Saturday morning to keep their season alive, as the Lady Pirates faced No. 1 seed and host Borgia in the Class 4 District 4 semifinal.

Hannibal rose to the challenge and took down Borgia at their place, defeating the Lady Knights 3-2 to advance to the district championship game.

The Lady Pirates took the first set 25-22, but Borgia seized momentum and won the second set 25-13 and third set 26-24.

Hannibal evened it up after taking the fourth set 25-19 and won the deciding fifth set 15-11.

The Hannibal sophomore outside hitter duo of Marissa Falconer and Lyla Dorsey came up big, with both players recording 18 kills. Falconer also had a team-high 23 digs, while Dorsey had 15 digs and two blocks.
