CANTON, Mo. -- Homecoming did not go as planned for Culver-Stockton football.
St. Ambrose spoiled the festivities and thumped the Wildcats 47-14 in a Heart of America Athletic Conference showdown.
It was a promising start when the Wildcats went on a 10-play, 88-yard opening drive that culminated with a five-yard rushing touchdown by Keyian Hughes.
It was all St. Ambrose after that as the Bees kept stinging and scored five touchdowns and two field goals before Culver-Stockton scored again.
The Wildcats other touchdown came in the fourth quarter when quarterback Liam Thornton threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Dixon.
St. Ambrose had 506 total yards of offense, compared to 358 by Culver-Stockton. The Bees also had a superior time of possession with 31:25.
