LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police have released details on an overnight officer-involved shooting.

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. in the 5500 block of Ridgecrest Road. A woman had been shot.

When officers arrived, before they were able to get to the female shooting victim, they were approached in the street by a man who was holding a handgun.

Officers ordered the man to drop his weapon. The man continued walking toward the officers while holding his weapon up.

One officer fired his service weapon, striking the man at least one time.

Officers rendered medical aid to both the suspect and the victim. Both were transported to University Hospital in critical condition. All parties are accounted for.
