Macomb’s Emerging Educators Future Teachers Program has its first graduate working in the field and last week she was visited by Macomb Intermediate School District administrators as well as representatives from the Michigan Department of Education (MDE).
She was a little nervous but also excited.
“I was glad to have so many people see the wonderful things that my kids are doing,” said Mackenzie Callaway, who teaches seventh and eighth-grade language arts at Warren Consolidated School District’s Carlton Middle School in Sterling Heights.
Callaway is one of several Michiganders who benefitted from an MISD program designed to serve as an educator pipeline and support system for local graduates on their journey toward teacher certification. The program is one of 163 similar programs launch
