INDEPENDENCE, Ohio
Weapons, Quarry Lane
A driver was pulled over at 11:42 p.m. Sept. 26 for improper display of a rear license plate. The driver and a backseat passenger reportedly exited the car when they stopped and were ordered back inside the vehicle by police. A passenger was found with a loaded handgun, and police later found he had a felony warrant out of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for resisting arrest. The weapon was seized and the man was released with a warning after the Summit County Sheriff’s Office failed to respond to the warrant pickup. Charges by Independence Police for carrying a concealed weapon were still pending against the man at the time of the report. The driver, meanwhile, was cited for improper display of plates and driving under suspension.
