The sun was shining bright, the temperatures were perfect for running and between its volunteers and impeccable concession offerings, Ponaganset High School couldn’t have been a better host for the 2025 RIIL Cross Country Boys and Girls Class Championships.

But there was one thing missing – drama.

The Class Championships serve as a walk in the park – or in this case, run on the trails – for the state’s best performers. While many of Saturday’s competitors left every ounce of themselves on the course, the state’s elite runners who expect to contend for gold at the RIIL State Championships on November 1 made sure they won comfortably, comfortably.
