Art Quigg and the London Senior Hockey league are out to prove that age is just a number.
Quigg is 89 and still lacing up his skates and playing three games a week at the Western Fair Sports Centre, making him what is believed to be the oldest active hockey player in London, and maybe even Ontario.
“I love the game. (My teammates) say I’ve got a little bit of ability in putting the puck in the net and making plays,” Quigg said.
Despite his humble attitude, in a game last week the ice-loving octogenarian scored two goals and added three assists.
Originally from New Brunswick, Quigg started playing hockey at the age of eight, just as the Second World War came to end.
