A strong cold front is set to sweep across Central Texas on Tuesday, delivering the most noticeable taste of fall so far this season. While this system will bring the much cooler air that we've been waiting on, it will also come with a heightened fire danger, prompting the KVUE Weather Team to issue a Weather Impact Alert Day for Wednesday.
The front will move into the northern Hill Country early Tuesday morning, reaching the Austin metro area around lunchtime into the early afternoon. By mid to late afternoon, it will push through areas farther east and southeast of the city. Ahead of the front, temperatures will briefly warm into the low to mid-80s before quickly dropping through the afternoon and evening once the front passes.
