COMPTON, Calif. (KCAL/KCBS) – Blank spaces now fill some of the cemetery grounds where headstones once marked lives laid to rest at Woodlawn Celestial Gardens in Compton, California.
Security camera video caught one person moving through the grounds at night.
The owner of the cemetery, Celestina Bishop, said found 50 headstones either gone or destroyed the next day.
“We had an intruder that at that time was breaking the headstones. I believe he was trying to pry it off of the concrete,” she said.
While it is hard to make out who the suspect is in the video, it’s not hard to figure out what they were doing.
“This person came with a wheelchair, and it was very strange to see. an intruder pushing a wheelchair in a cemetery in the middle of the night,” Bishop said.
