FRONT ROYAL — The second annual Mead Mile Race and Festival promises to be bigger and better than the first.
Created and organized by Honey & Hops Brew Works, the event benefits Movember Foundation, a men’s health and suicide prevention initiative.
Honey & Hops raised $8,500 for Movember last year, said Isaac Rushing, who runs the Main Street meadery with his brothers Ian and Adam.
“We were pretty thrilled,” he said, noting that Honey & Hops was in the top 100 of donors to the Movember Foundation last year.
Set for Saturday, the Mead Mile entails drinking 8 ounces of mead, running a quarter of a mile loop along Main Street, and then repeating three more times for a total of 32 ounces consumed and 1 mile covered. Last year, 144 people participated in the run. Rushing said in early Octob
