WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — K-9 Mouse is one step closer to being cancer-free.
Mouse, affectionately called "Mousey," underwent her final chemotherapy treatment Monday afternoon, according to the West Warwick Police Department.
The 10-year-old pit bull mix became the West Warwick Police Department's first-ever comfort K-9 over the summer. She was first brought to the West Warwick Animal Shelter back in February after a resident found her abandoned in town.
Mouse was extremely emaciated and malnourished when she arrived at the shelter. Though her condition improved over time, the shelter was dealt a devastating blow when she was diagnosed with an aggressive case of lymphoma.
