As the leaves fall and temperatures drop, animals are active this autumn, either migrating to warmer climates or preparing for the winter season ahead.
Area wildlife ecologist Dr. Leanne Heisler says people in the southeast can expect to see a variety of fauna on the move this time of year, from waterfowl like geese, ducks, and cranes to land animals such as coyotes, rabbits, and raccoons.
“Fall is really a time for most wildlife to start getting ready for winter and that usually means either moving out of the area going south, or moving into their winter ranges, so you'll see quite a bit of wildlife just kind of moving around right now.”
